El Fin es el Mismo

2024

Surrealist digital illustration I made during the pandemic to translate the feelings of mortality and the inevitability of death.

Indy500 Segment Package2024

2024

This show package was created for NewsNation where I currently work as a graphic designer and animator. I thought the vibrant colors of a vector illustration would bring the energy I was feeling from the event and that the colors and shapes would invoke mid-century illustration.

After School Matters Beatles Bench

2014

I painted this bench as a teenager for After School Matters and was allowed to compile different motifs from their era and music to create a cohesive composition with acrylic on wood. While my technique has improved since then, I’m still proud because it was my first real job as an illustrator. I created a cohesive narrative on the seat and backboard; which taught me to follow a creative brief and use my visual voice to knock it out of the park. The company even got Paul McCartney to see it and autograph it. To this day it’s the most expensive commission I’ve completed as it auctioned for $30,000. The money went back into the program and I couldn’t be happier to have contributed to something that helps thousands of children in my city.

Stamps for a Cause

2019

The assignment was to create stamps for a cause that worked as a whole composition and as four individual spreads. I decided to focus on the importance of protecting coral reefs. There is often too much doom and gloom in calling people to action, so my approach aims to highlight the beauty and wonder that nature contains through the use of bright colors and graphic textures. I also thought it was important to incorporate the kinds of life that inhabit the coral reef to use the stamps as a vehicle to educate.

Makara Crypid Skateboard

2024

For this project I imagined the South Asian cryptid, the “Makara.” It is a swamp dwelling creature with the head of an elephant crocodile and the body of a fish. Stories also say it has the tail of a peacock. I thought it sounded beautiful so I created my own interpretation using ink, pen and acrylic markers to allow the natural wood grain to shine though.
